چکیده

Poyang Lake is the largest freshwater lake in China. It faces a series of ecological and environmental problems, hence it is important and necessary to study the land use change in the Poyang Lake region. In this study, Landsat images in 1976, 1989, 1999 and 2009 were analysed using methods including quantitative changes of land use and land use degree change in the Poyang Lake region. Land use was classified into seven types: cropland, woodland, grassland, water body, construction land, bottomland and unused land. Cropland, bottomland and water body were decreasing while water body decreased relatively slowly. However, construction land, grassland, woodland and unused land increased to a certain extent. The land use degree was above national average. During the period 1976-1989, 1989-1999 and 19992009, land use was in adjustment stage, development stage and adjustment stage.

Assessment of drought and landuse changes: Impacts on groundwater quality in Shabestar basin, North of Lake Urmia

Management of groundwater quality is very important in arid and semi-arid areas. In this study, satellite images from TM, ETM and OLI sensors were used to evaluate the impacts of land use changes on groundwater quality for 1990, 2007 and 2015 in Shabestar basin. After processing and analyzing images, the basin was classified into five land use classes including pasture, bare land, farming, gard...

Land-cover Change and Vulnerability to Flooding near Poyang Lake, Jiangxi Province, China

Inhabitants near Poyang Lake, in the Central Yangtze River Basin, China, are vulnerable to loss of life and livelihood because of the interactions of flooding and land-use policies and decisions. We analyzed implications of land-cover patterns for vulnerability to flooding in the Poyang Lake Region. Land-cover and change were mapped using multitemporal Landsat TM/ETM images at high and low wate...

A Spatial Optimization Model for Sustainable Land Use at Regional Level in China: A Case Study for Poyang Lake Region

Economic growth in China is accompanied by many problems, such as rapid deterioration of the environment and a sharp decline in the area of arable land. China’s current land-use planning system fails to deal with these problems, especially at the regional level. The lack of sustainable spatial allocation at regional level has become a pressing problem. This article aims to: (1) analyze the reas...

Investigating the Trend of Desertification Changes in Different Land Uses of Gavkhoni Basin Using Change Vector Analysis Method

Introduction: Desertification refers to the decreased biological potentials in the ecosystem of hyper-arid, arid, semi-arid, and humid semi-arid regions because of climate change and human activities. The phenomenon occurs due to a combination of direct and indirect factors whose intensity varies according to time and place, making the scientific, replicable, and systematic evaluation of desert...

Combining Multispectral Imagery with in situ Topographic Data Reveals Complex Water Level Variation in China's Largest Freshwater Lake

Lake level variation is an important hydrological indicator of water balance, biodiversity and climate change in drainage basins. This paper illustrates the use of moderate-resolution imaging spectroadiometer (MODIS) data to characterize complex water level variation in Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China. MODIS data were used in conjunction with in situ topographic data, otherwis...
